Our Students - Year PP Room 17

 

In room 17 we have been learning story telling actions as part of our Talk for Writing program. The actions we use are for connectives such as first, next, then, so, but, suddenly, after that etc. Retelling stories using story maps and actions helps the students with written tasks. We have been retelling the story of 'The Tiger Who Came To Tea' by Judith Kerr. We had fun with our class tiger in the home corner.

   
   
 
 

As part of our Design and Technology program the students were asked to design a box construction. When making their box construction they needed to pay close attention to their design. After completing the task they had to evaluate their process and finished product.

   
   
 

 


What a wonderful and busy first term we have had in Room 17. Our Pre-Primary students have done a brilliant job of settling into routines and learning ways to work cooperatively with our classmates.

We have learnt how to retell The Very Hungry Caterpillar to support our story writing. We have also been learning to write our names, hear beginning sounds and numbers up to 9. We made caterpillars and butterflies in Maths while we were learning about the number 5.

 

During Harmony week we learnt about National Emblems and we drew the pictures of our National animals.

 

Students in Room 17 made self portraits using collage as the medium for this work.

 

Students learnt to sequence from smallest to largest using Easter eggs.
